Balancing the Individual and the Collective

PalaisPopulaire, Berlin

2025

Togetherness. What holds us together and makes us part of a community?
Whether in private life, the family, a self-chosen group, or a group brought together by fate, how can shared experiences and paths be lived and shaped? In the context of the new film series OnView – Togetherness, this workshop explores individual or collective experiences of belonging. Starting from the individual body, the community is examined as a social construct.
Inspired by Trisha Browns “Leaning Duet”(1970) – on display within the film series OnView – the participants explore the delicate balance between self, place and other through the use of materials such as strings and ropes. By exploring the rules of togetherness, spaces of encounter are created where the qualities of proximity, distance, and space are tested.
