AADK, Blanca/Spain

2025

Set against the desert-like landscape of southern Spain, near the former salt extraction site of Salinas del Curro, this video explores the body as a time-based sculpture, engaging with themes of tension and balance. At its center stands an old bathtub—once located near the ruins, now displaced by heavy rains – suspended above a saltwater creek, nestled among overgrown reeds. The bathtub becomes a fragile stage for exploring equilibrium and interdependence.

The piece captures a brief sequence of movement: the artist stands inside the bathtub, balancing – a figure both absurd and delicate in the wild terrain. As she pulls on the surrounding reeds, the body leans back, arches over the tub, and eventually comes to rest on the earth. This quiet exchange between body, displaced object, and landscape speaks to transformation, presence, and the subtle interconnections between human and nature.
