2025

Set in the desert-like landscape of southern Spain, near the former salt extraction site of Salinas del Curro, this video explores the body as a time-based sculpture, engaging with themes of tension and balance. The work centers on an old bathtub, once near the ruins but displaced by heavy rainfall, now positioned above the pit of a saltwater creek. Surrounded by overgrown reeds, the bathtub becomes a site to explore balance and dependency.
The piece captures a short movement sequence, where the artist stands and balances inside the bathtub – an image both absurd and fragile within the natural environment. As the artist pulls on the surrounding reeds, the body leans back and arches over the tub, eventually resting on the earth. This interaction between the body, the displaced object, and the landscape emphasizes the themes of transformation, presence, and the delicate interconnections between human and nature.
